Great community programming…entertainment and more!

Visual Radio

It’s Innovative Television

Created in 1992 when the host was producing at 93.7 WCGY and was program director of WNSH AM 1570, Visual Radio officially launched in 1995 with Marty Balin of The Jefferson Airplane / The Jefferson Starship.

The idea was to bring the shows on radio to television...thus, "visual" "radio". When you heard three Black Crowes songs in rotation on 93.7 FM it was Joe Viglione consulting with the Program Director; when you heard a rare live version of the band RTZ's hit song "Dreams" (Brad Delp, Barry Goudreau, Brian Maes, Tim Archibald), our #1 local song, it was the work of the host of Visual Radio. Over 90 "Demo That Got The Deal"™ interviews were broadcast from 1991-1993 including Greg Hawkes of The Cars, Letters To Cleo, Sully Erna of Godsmack (when he was in Maliah Rage), Barry Tashian of The Remains and many more. In 2000 Viglione was program director of AM 1670 in Brighton which re-broadcast when the producer hosted Saturday nights on

WJIB, AM 740 in Cambridge. Guests included Lou Reed, Dick Wagner, Barbara Harris of The Toys, #1 author of The Christmas Box Richard Paul Evans and others who phoned in. The interviews at AM 1670 happened simultaneous with Visual Radio including a pioneering(at the time) trimulcast on the internet, on cable TV and on AM 1670, when such things were not in vogue!
